I am a fully accredited member of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). I am also a registered art psychotherapist (HCPC) and registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP).
I have a decade's experience as a fully qualified psychotherapist in private practice. I also worked as an art psychotherapist in mental health for Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust for seven years. I have had the pleasure of supporting a great many people throughout my career to move through their struggles into better places and come out the stronger for it. My therapy work is with individuals and groups. I also facilitate reflective practice for individuals, groups and organisations.
Previous therapy roles include the mental health charity Mind, a women’s service at Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust, and Cambridge and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust.
Having worked for many years in the front line and as a manager in education and the voluntary sector, I am well aware of the issues and challenges that you can face as you move through life. It was running creative groups with people at a homelessness charity in London who were wanting to get back into training and employment that led me to discovering the Institute for Arts in Therapy and Education (IATE) and to training as an integrative arts psychotherapist.
My approach is integrative, combining humanistic, psychoanalytic, psychodynamic and Jungian theories and techniques, as well as using creative media where appropriate.
It is important to bear in mind when considering starting therapy that awareness is the first step towards change, and that deeper change can take longer when issues and patterns go back to early life.
My professional background has also given me a particular insight into the challenges facing those who support others. My studies over the past eight years in meditation, energy care and natural energy therapy have deepened my understanding of the healing journey.
